NKVD, which was The People’s Commissariat for Internal Affairs, was the Ministry of Interior of the Soviet Union between the years of 1934 and 1946. Although it was established in 1917 as the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic first, after 13 years, in 1930, it was disbanded. The reason why it was disbanded was that even though at first the aim of the agency was acting with the police department, this situation changed and its tasks have been spread among the other agencies. Then, OGPU, which was a secret police organization, gave its functions to NKVD and also NKVD reconstituted as an all-union commissariat.
Besides these circumstances, NKVD was responsible for the Great Purge in the USSR and the operations against Nazi Germany in World War II. In this committee, the delegates will be charged for investigating these events and rewriting the history of NKVD and the USSR.
